VILLAGE COMMITTEE FORMATION PROCESS
WORKSHOP

1. WELCOME- MAYOR MICHAEL W. DAVEY: The workshop was called to order by
the Mayor at 6:00 p.m.
Present were Councilmembers Luis Lauredo, Edward London, Brett G. Moss, Kathleen Petros,
Ignacio Segurola, Vice Mayor Allison McCormick and Mayor Michael W. Davey. Also present
were Village Manager Andrea Agha, Village Clerk Jennifer Medina and Village Attorney Chad
Friedman.
The Mayor addressed the public and the Council regarding the purpose of the workshop.
2, DISCUSSION REGARDING VILLAGE'S COMMITTEE F'ORMATION
PROCESS:
The Attorney addressed the Council regarding the Village's requirements of Boards, per Village
Code Sec. 2-10.
Councilmember Lauredo addressed the Council regarding designation of all Committees to
Boards, only allowing Board members to serve 2-year terms with the option of reappointment
and limiting the number of members to a Board to only allow for 7.
There was extensive discussion by Council regarding the following
Summary of Council actions regarding appointments andlor reappointments will be
brought forth at the April 9,2019 Regular Council Meeting for Council action;
a
March 12, 2019
o the Clerk shall advertise vacancies for the Pension Board and Education Advisory Board
and anyone interested will forward their information to the Clerk's Office and at that time
the Clerk will circulate it to the Council;
o delineate Board goals and parameters;
o Village website;
o centralize information regarding Boards on the Village website;
o create an online sign-up option for those interested in becoming a member on a Board;
c 2040 Strategic Vision Plan's goals and objectives;
. assigning Staff and Council liaisons;
o the creation ofa landscape/beautification board;
o the creation of a mental health board;
o the dog park committee, not being a Board of the Village Council as well as the V/inter
Concert Advisory Committee;
. changing the name of the Land Acquisition Committee to the Park and Open Space
Board;
o participation by Council to continuously attend Board meetings;
o the Special Magistrate Board not requiring a Council liaison;
o adding a standing item on Council meeting agendas regarding "Board Reports to Council
by Council Liaison"; and
o continuing to allow for one (1) Board per meeting to report to the Council under Special
Presentations.
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS: The following residents addressed the Council: Cecile
Sanchez, 260 Cypress Drive; Tracy Ellis, 646 Fernwood Road; Betty Conroy, 785 Crandon
Boulevard; Allene Nicholson, 769 Allendale Road; Pat V/oodson, 472 Warren lane; Onofre
Torres, 600 Grapetree Drive and Christina Bracken 224West Mashta.
4. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjoumed at 8:44 p.m
