HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2013-09-13 Loudoun History Award Nominations Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release 21st Annual Loudoun History Awards To Be Presented By Thomas Balch Library Advisory Commission Nominations now being accepted through Monday, October 7, 2013 Leesburg, VA (September 13, 2013) – Thomas Balch Library Advisory Commission is seeking nominations for the 21st annual Loudoun History Awards. Deadline for nominations is Monday, October 7, 2013. Letters of nomination should include a statement elaborating the nominees’ accomplishments. Newspaper articles, program announcements, publications, or other supporting information that provides evidence of the nominee’s accomplishments may also be included. Nominations can be sent to the Thomas Balch Library Director, including contact information for the nominee and nominator, at: Alexandra S. The Loudoun History Awards honor individuals who have made significant contributions to preserving Loudoun’s past through collection of county documents and memorabilia, preservation of historic landmarks, visual arts, writing and long-term involvement in local history organizations. The Awards Ceremony will be held at Thomas Balch Library on Sunday, November 10, 2013, at 2:00pm. The public is invited to attend the awards ceremony. Last year’s honorees were Kenneth Fleming for his contributions to research and preservation of Loudoun County history; Jim Hanna for his contributions to the advocacy, preservation, photographic documentation, and promotion of Loudoun County history; Louis Jett for his (more) TOL PR 2013-09-13 Loudoun History Awards Page 2 contributions to research and preservation of the memory of African Americans in Loudoun County’s history; and James P. Lucier, Sr., for his contributions to the advocacy, preservation, historical research and writing of Loudoun County history.
