Paula Miller shared her comments regarding the HWG Phase II Report. She was concerned about the lines of watersheds on the maps. She asked for the committee to remember these lines don't really exist on the ground. She expressed concern about models. She stated flow paths don't exist as they do on the maps. She was concerned about the sea level rise numbers and stated the land acquisition vs. land use was being downplayed. She liked the recommendations for land use and land planning. Leven acknowledged she has a copy of Paula's comments. 14.Discuss HWG Phase H Report Leven received comments from the committee and distributed them via email and hard copy. Skidmore suggested the committee accept the grammatical corrections. The group reviewed the list. Hughes, P suggested sharing overall comments about the draft report. =y' Leven noted the general comments at the end of the document. Skidmore asked for general comments. She wants to see the final build out information by watershed included. (Leven confirmed they are working on it) Impressed about the amount of work to do in Phase III. O'Reilly Happy with the report, what he expected Schell Surprised and disappointed (fig. 7 and fig 8) septic, leaching fields, water tables, no recommendation to pursue it further. The quality of Title V systems are threatened by k these effects. He was looking for recommendations. 1 Evans Good report. They mentioned the CCC regional wastewater plan briefly and if it would impact Brewster. He was concerned about addressing residents'fears regarding costs. Private wells (300) are tested on a voluntary basis. Is this a good thing or should this change?This was not addressed. Ryan Enjoyed the report, well done, and covered everything presented at public meetings. He appreciated the layout of the federal, state and water department information. Hughes, J Well written. CCC wastewater plan is an ongoing plan. Pleasant Bay—a plan for people who have onsite septic systems, certain age, go into an IA?Who will be responsible? 4 Home owner or Town? Skidmore Concurs with committee, well done report. Leven will share comments. HWG will get a copy of the minutes and comments from the committee. He asked the audience for comments. g Miller Pleased with report f Gallagher Easy to follow, good for the general public(not a heavy read) Hughes, P Page#93, In depth study of the ponds but not in the recommendations Continued Discussion Miller addressed that we won't have to sewer. (Perhaps not the whole town.) Skidmore clarified for the group-- no centralized town wide sewer system. r 1 Johnson stated we are served by the same aquifer as the other towns around us. A regional approach should be 4 supported. Brewster Conservation Trust(BCT) has sought out neighboring town trusts to protect land over the Brewster border. He stated we should support the commission. 1 Schell asked about collaborating with Dennis and Orleans for protection of their watersheds. Johnson explained the Town and the Trust have collaborated. They have done it twice with Dennis and Orleans. He explained further and shared an example. 1 Leven added what the Cape Cod Commission (CCC) and other groups are talking about in terms of regionalization— Harwich/Chatham example. Opportunities exist for neighboring towns.Water Protection Collaboration asked Leven to go before the BOS to get recommendations for priorities of regional work. The BOS sent a statement to the group. They stated that they did not support wastewater solutions with non neighboring towns. , Skidmore asked the committee if they want to go through the comments individually. The committee discussed process.
