HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD15785 BILL NO. 2017-130 SPONSORED BY Councilwoman Ward ORDINANCE NO. / 5i 05 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, DESIGNATING 720 EAST HIGH STREET AS A LOCAL HISTORIC LANDMARK. WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-42 of the City Code, the City of Jefferson Historic Preservation Commission (CJHPC) is required to evaluate properties within the City for potential designation as local historic landmarks; and WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-42 of the City Code, a property is eligible for local landmark designation if the CJHPC determines that it meets any of the following criteria: A. The potential landmark is in an identifiable neighborhood or distinct geographical area which has historic and/or cultural importance to the city; or B. The potential landmark is associated with a particular prominent person, a significant event or historical period; or C. The potential landmark exhibits a particular architectural style or school, or are associated with a particular architect, engineer, builder, designer or craftsman; or D. The potential landmark contains historic, prehistoric and archaeological features, evidence and/or artifacts which have the potential to contribute to the understanding of historic and prehistoric cultures; and, WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-45 of the Code of the City of Jefferson, Michel & Donna Deetz, 720 East High Street, have applied for designation of the building as a local historic landmark; and WHEREAS, The Historic Preservation Commission finds that 720 East High Street, meets Criterion A. WHEREAS, Pursuant to Section 8-42 of the City Code, the City of Jefferson Historic Preservation Commission has recommended this property for designation as a local historic landmark. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The property at 720 East High Street is hereby designated as a historic landmark; and, Section 2. The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to cause the appropriate plaque to be provided to the owners of sites designated as Landmarks. Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage and approval.
