BUDGET WORKSHOP

1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL OF MEMBERS: The meeting was called to order by
the Mayor at 7:00 p.m. Present were Councilmembers Michael W. Davey, Enrique Garcia, Steve
Liedman, Thomas Thornton, Patricia Weinman, Vice Mayor Jorge E. Mendia and Mayor Robert L.
Vernon. Also present were Village Manager Jacqueline R. Menendez, Village Clerk Conchita H.
Alvarez and Village Attorney Chad Friedman.
2. BUDGET PRESENTATION: The Manager addressed the Council giving a brief
introduction to the budget presentation.
The following staff was also present: Director of Building, Zoning and Planning Jud
Kurlancheek, Director of Parks and Recreation Todd Hofferberth, Community Center
Manager Maite Miyares, Assistant to the Manager Ana de Varona, Chief of Police Charles
Press, Division Chief Rene Landa, Chief of Fire Rescue John C. Gilbert, Public Works
Director Armando Nunez, IT Administrator Michael Fleming and Finance Director Randolph
G. White.
Director White made a presentation to the Council regarding the proposed budget.
The Manager addressed the Council regarding the Administration Budget; Director White addressed
the Council regarding the Attorney's Budget; the Clerk addressed the Council regarding the Clerk's
Budget; Director Kurlancheek addressed the Council regarding the Building, Zoning and Planning
Department Budget; Chief Press addressed the Council regarding the Police Department Budget;

Chief Gilbert addressed the Council regarding the Fire Rescue Department Budget; Director Nufiez
addressed the Council regarding the Public Works Department Budget and Director Hofferberth
addressed the Council regarding the Parks and Recreation Department Budget and the Community
Center Budget.
The following residents addressed the Council: Ed Meyer, 798 Crandon Boulevard and
Bonnie Cooper, 77 Crandon Boulevard.
Councilmember Weinman addressed the Council regarding the upcoming Charrette and a proposal
from the Chair of the EAR Subcommittee to hold a meeting during the summer prior to the
Charrette.
It was the consensus of Council to hold a Special Council Meeting on July 10, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. to
consider the proposed recommendations by the EAR Subcommittee.
At this time the Mayor addressed the Council and the public, and on behalf of the Village Council
wished the Manager the best on her new endeavor.
3. SCHEDULE OF FUTURE MEETINGS/EVENTS: A schedule of future meetings and
events was presented to the Council.
4. ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
