HomeMy Public PortalAbout1959-12-21 Regular Meeting62 December 21, 1959 The Bel Harbour Village Council held its regular meet— ing on Monday, December 21, 1959 at the Village Hall. There were present Messrs. Rroeman, Beatty, Faulkner and 6i'hite. Absent: Mr. Hart. Also present were W. H. Webb, Village Manager; and Mary r. Wetterer, Village Clerk. The meeting was called to order by Assistant Mayor 3roeman and after roll call, the minutes of the meeting of November 2R, 1959 were accepted as submitted upon motion of Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Faulkner and unanimously approved. Mr. Beatty moved that inasmuch as none of the ocean front owners had appeared today to protest their assessments that the Council approve a resolution which was prepared by the Village Attorney and which shall be known as RfjOLU"IION NC. 70 RESOLUTION ItELATIN , TO THE Ci;tJFIRMATION OF THE ASCESSMENT POLL. FOR SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS LEVIED IN IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT 41 Said motion was seconded by Mr. .white and unanimously approved by the Council. Mr. Jean Cauchois again appeared before the Council with his attorney, Mr. Fred Ivard, with regard to an applica— tion for limousine service permit. After the discussion, Mr. Beatty moved that the Village Mane :or issue the permit pro— vided there is no conflict of permits now in existence and providing the applicant can meet the requirements of the city on insurance, etc. The motion was seconded by Mr. Faulkner and unanimously approved. Mr. Faulkner moved that the application for permit for U Drive It and unmetered car at the Sea View Hotel by Reach Auto Rental be approved. Said motion was seconded by Mr. 3eatty and unanimously approved. Mr. Webb, the Village k.anager, informed the Council that he had had a call from Mr. A. J. Hoffman complaining of the unsightly appearance of the curb mail boxes in front of some of the homes in Hal Harbour. During the discussion of this problem Mr. Broeman suggested that the Village Manager bring this matter to the attention of the Villagers in his 63 next News Letter and rennest their cooperation by removing the boxes or moving the ornamental type boxes closer to the steps of their homes. Mr. Robert Landis appeared before theCouncil to re— quest that the Village Ordinance No. 8, which applies to civilian registration, he amended to include boat captains and their crews so that all persons aboard the yachts tied up in the harbor would be required to register with the police department. Mr. Webb explained to Mr. Landis and the Council that he was in complete sympathy with him but that all boat captains are governed by Maritime law and cannot he included under the Village Ordinance. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned upon motion by Mr. Fain-ner, seconded by Mr. Beatty. ATTEST: Village Clerk December 21, 1959. AssiAtant Mayor January 23, 1960 The Hal Harbour Village Council held its regular meeting January 23, 1960 in the Pal Harbour Village Ha11 at 9:30 a.m. Those present were Messrs. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hart and after the roll call, the minute; of the previo.is meeting were approved as submitted upon metier of Mr. Beatty and seconder by Mr. Mite.
