Board of Health Meeting
Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 7:00PM
Town Hall, Rooms A & B
Present: Joanne Hughes, Chairman, Lem Skidmore, Vice Chairman, Keith Johnson, Jose Fernandez, Nancy Ellis Ice,
Health Director and Tammi Mason, Senior Department Assistant.
1. Bennett Environmental-continued variance request for 21 Captain Dunbar Road
This was brought back to the Board because they had to re notify the abutters about the extra variance request.
Motion: LS-finding that this is a small lot with no other place to put the septic system and a fence and Zabel
filter will be in place, the Board of Health approves the variance requests with the following conditions:
1. A licensed septic hauler must come up with a service plan
2. There should be signage on the manhole covers in non degradable paint stating that there is a Zabel
filter.
KJ seconded this motion. 4 yes.
2. Public hearing on proposed ban of dogs at Drummer Boy Park
JH explained to the Board and the members of the audience that she would allow Brewster residents to speak first and
that they would be limited to 2 (two) minutes and if there was time after, she would allow non residents to speak.
There were several members of the public who chose to speak for and against this proposed ban.
The Board will be reviewing everything and bring it back to their next meeting.
3. Discuss changes in how variances are granted
The Board will wait until all the members are there to discuss this.
4. Discuss"Promoting Emotional Health and Preventing Suicide: A toolkit for Senior Living Communities
Jose Fernandez asked that this be postponed as he was not prepared to speak on this tonight.
5. Health Director's mid year review and update on objectives
Objective #1-To ensure compliance with Mass DEP's Administrative Consent Order at Daniels/Antinarelli Stump Dump-NI
stated that she is on track.
Objective #2-To work with IT to integrate Health Dept. data with Town wide date- NI stated that she has not gone any
further with this one.
Objective #3-To improve user access to information by enhancing the Health Dept website- NI stated that this one was
on going
Objective #4-To continue to work on the dog issues- NI stated that this is on track
Objective #5-To ensure compliance with Mass DEP's authorization to operate a small handling facility wood waste
reclamation facility- NI stated that this is on track
