ATHLETIC PROGRAMS/KBAC WORKSHOP
KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor at 7:00 p.m. Present were Councilmembers Michael
W. Davey, Thomas Thornton, Patricia Weinman, Vice Mayor Jorge E. Mendia and Mayor Robert
L. Vernon. Councilmembers Enrique Garcia and Steve Liedman were absent. Also present were
Village Manager Genaro "Chip" Iglesias, Village Clerk Conchita H. Alvarez and Village Attorney
Stephen P. Helfman.
The Mayor welcomed the public to the Athletic Programs/KBAC Workshop.
The Manager stated that the goal is to create a new model to deliver athletic programs for the
Village.
The following residents addressed the Council: Bill Thompson, President KBAC, 300
Ridgewood Road; Richard Goldstein, KBAC Board Member, 610 Curtiswood Road; Rick
Martinez, 1111 Crandon Boulevard; John Lombardi, Commissioner of Baseball; Robert
Bailey, 840 Harbor Drive; Marcelo Radice, 412 Warren Lane and Luis Felipe de la Cruz, 640
Allendale Road.
The Attorney also addressed the Council regarding the transition of the athletic programs from
KBAC to the Village of Key Biscayne.
There was extensive discussion from Council regarding this transition.
