Town of Leesburg to Host HUBZone Job Fair
on November 19, 2013
Leesburg, VA (November 4, 2013) – The Leesburg Economic Development Office, in
cooperation with BLS Group, Inc., will host a HUBZone Job Fair on Tuesday, November 19, 2013
from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Center, located at 726 East
Market Street in Leesburg, VA.
“This is the perfect opportunity for people looking for jobs to meet over 20 great companies
looking for HUBZone employees,” said Marantha Edwards, Economic Development Director.
In addition to the employers, a number of resource providers will be on hand to help
prospective businesses and employees with commercial office and residential housing needs,
workforce training, and other business assistance. Additionally, prepaid gas cards for $100,
$50 and $25 will be given away to three lucky job seekers at the event!
HUBZone companies must hire 35% of their employees from a HUBZone as part of the program
requirements. Companies that earn the HUBZone certification get competitive advantages in
bidding for Federal Contracts.
The Town of Leesburg gained HUBZone status for the East Market Street corridor and adjacent
areas on January 1, 2013. Since that time, the Town has attracted twenty-one new companies
to Leesburg, and has a total of twenty-eight federal contractors who are seeking the HUBZone
designation. The new companies have created ninety-eight new jobs in Leesburg so far this
year.
