Sweetz Bakery Celebrates Grand Opening of Leesburg Store
with Ribbon Cutting on November 16, 2013
Leesburg, VA (November 8, 2013) – Sweetz Bakery
will hold a grand opening celebration for its new
Leesburg store on Saturday, November 16, 2013.
Sweetz Bakery is located in the Battlefield Shopping
Center at 1057 Edwards Ferry Road, Leesburg. The
grand opening celebration will feature a ribbon cutting
ceremony with Mayor Kristen Umstattd and other
Town of Leesburg officials at 11:30am.
In addition, customers will receive 10% off all food
purchases during the celebration and Sweetz will give
away gift certificates to twelve lucky winners.
The new Leesburg space is Sweetz’ flagship location
for on-premises production and retail sales of specialty baked goods such as gourmet cupcakes,
wedding cakes, specialty cakes, and other desserts. The bakery's signature style is a light cake
with whipped cream-based frosting that has a mousse-like texture. Sweetz is also known for its
unique cupcake flavors, like Mexican Hot Chocolate, White Chocolate Goat Cheese and Lime
Mojito. The bakery offers a daily selection of savory items, such as a soup of the day and panini
of the day. The menu changes frequently based on seasonal ingredients and product
availability. Gluten free and vegan selections are also featured.
"The bakery is my corner of creativity where I can serve my latest creations to our customers. I
have an international background so there will be wide variety of flavors. One day might we
may serve a hearty Italian wedding soup and another day we may have Vietnamese ramen with
roasted pork loin," said Trang Bowers, founder of Sweetz Bakery.
Bowers reflects on finding the right retail space for her bakery. “It wasn’t an easy process, but I
just kept plugging away” she said. “Every time a door closed on me, I’d find one that was open.”

That door is now open featuring an inviting modern design and elegant décor, complete with
glass display cases, rich chocolate brown cabinetry, and comfortable seating for customers.
Sweetz Bakery started in 2010 and offers gourmet cupcakes, specialty cakes, wedding cakes,
cookies, and other sweets using the finest ingredients. What started out as a home baking
business for weddings and special events has expanded into a retail kiosk at the Dulles Town
Center Mall in Sterling, VA, and now a flagship production and retail store in Leesburg, VA. To
