HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 77-1633 Declaration of a candidate for the Board of Supervisor of Los Angeles CountyRESOLUTION NO. 77 -1633 WHEREAS, Mayor Elaine Donaldson, President of the San Gabriel Valley Association of Cities, has publicly declared herself to be a candidate for the Board of Supervisors of Los Angeles County; and WHEREAS, one of the stated purposes of the San Gabriel Valley Association of Cities is that of involvement in exerting collective influence on county affairs and seeking its reform; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Donaldson has indicated her desire to continue fl serving another term as President of this Association; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Donaldson has demonstrated by public pronounce- ment that her personal political aspirations take preference over this office by indicating she might resign the office if she becomes "too busy" in her campaign to become a County Supervisor; and WHEREAS, a definite conflict of interest is evident by her efforts to concurrently serve as spokesman for this Association and direct its affairs while campaigning for the office of Super- visor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Temple City declares its formal opposition to the continuance of Mrs. Donaldson as President of the San Gabriel Valley Association of Cities and most specifically to her re- election to that office.
