Home My Public Portal About2018-05-21 pre-meeting1 COUNCIL “PRE-MEETING” WORK SESSION, MAY 21, 2018 CALL TO ORDER The City Council “Pre-Meeting” of May 21, 2018, was convened at 5:45 P.M. by Mayor Carrie Tergin. ATTENDANCE The following Council Members were present when the meeting convened: Present: Fitzwater, Graham, Hensley, Hussey, Kemna, Mihalevich, Prather, Schreiber, Ward, and Wiseman Absent: None A quorum was present. DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS Prayer - Councilman Graham will lead the prayer. Miscellaneous - Ciara Wheatley, Mayor’s Choice Sketch Day Winner, will be at the meeting. Mayor Tergin will congratulate her and invite her to speak about her artwork. - Bob Cynova will be recognized as the May Outstanding Employee Service Award Recipient. - Mayor Tergin and Fire Chief Matt Schofield will present former Firefighters Pension Board Members with proclamations for their service to the Board. - Mayor Tergin will present Rotary members with a proclamation, “Celebrating 100 Years of Rotary in Jefferson City”. Public Hearings - Sonny Sanders, Director of Planning and Protective Services, will present Bill 2018-009. Mayor Tergin will open the Public Hearing on the Bill. Appointments by the Mayor - Gayle Strope, Director of Human Resources, will present the recommended appointments to a few of the Boards and Commissions. Mayor Tergin will recommend the presented list and entertain a motion to approve. 2 COUNCIL “PRE-MEETING” WORK SESSION, MAY 21, 2018 Presentations from Staff, Consultants & Invited Guests - Mayor Tergin will introduce Hank Stratman, who will present the Heroes Outing event to City Council. - Councilman Graham will make a motion to amend the agend a, moving Item 7(b) to 4(e) due to time constraints of the invited guest, Hale Hentges. - Jayme Abbott, Neighborhood Services Manager will update the City Council on the Cardboard Recycling Program. Announcements by Mayor, Council & Invited Guests - Mayor Tergin will announce the Gregory Stockard Award Winners, Councilwoman Ward and Holly Stitt. - Todd Spalding, Director of Parks, Recreation, & Forestry will make a few department announcements. Bills Introduced - Sonny Sanders will present Bill 2018-012. - Matt Morasch, Director of Public Works, will present Bills 2018-013, 2018- 014, and 2018-015. - Matt Schofield will present Bill 2018-016. Bills Pending - Matt Morasch will present Bills 2018-005, 2018-006, and 2018-008. - Ryan Moehlman, City Counselor will present Bills 2018-010 and 2018-011. A motion will be made on each Bill to accept a substitute to correct the Bill numbers (from 2018-110 to 2018-010 and 2018-111 to 2018-011). ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 5:54 P.M.
