Leesburg Announces 11th Annual “Freeze Your Gizzard”
Winners
Leesburg, VA (November 27, 2013) – More
than 1,000 runners and walkers came out and
‘froze their gizzard’ at Ida Lee Park on
Saturday, November 23, 2013. The Town of
Leesburg Parks and Recreation Department, in
partnership with Loudoun Interfaith Relief,
hosted the 11th Annual Freeze Your Gizzard
Cross Country 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run at Ida Lee
Park. Runners took on a cross-country course
that featured several steep climbs and rugged
terrain.
The winning time for this year’s race was
posted by Patrick Joseph who completed the
course in 16:09. Joseph is a graduate of Loudoun County High School and currently runs cross-
country at Virginia Tech. The top female finisher was Anna Clair Wasko, a cross-country runner
from Leesburg’s Tuscarora High School, posting a time of 20:08 (pictured above).
All runners and walkers were asked to bring 2 canned food items to donate to Loudoun
Interfaith Relief’s food pantry. This year, a grand total of 1,692 lbs. was donated by Gizzard
