HomeMy Public PortalAbout20150806 - Open Space Preservation Committee - Meeting MinutesTOWN OF HOPKINTON OPEN SPACE PRESERVATION COMMISSION 18 MAIN STREET HOPKINTON, MA 01748 (508) 497-9755 Minutes of Meeting – August 6, 2015 The Hopkinton Open Space Preservation Commission met in Room 211 at the Town Hall, 18 Main Street, Hopkinton, Massachusetts. At 7:30 p.m., John Ferrari called the meeting to order. Present: John Ferrari, Nancy Peters, Ed Harrow and Jennifer Burke, Principal Planner Minutes Nancy Peters, seconded by Ed Harrow, made a motion to accept the minutes of July 9, 2015, as written. Vote: 3-0-0, Unanimous Cameron Woods CR Ms. Burke presented the Cameron Woods Conservation Restriction for signature. Town Counsel has reviewed it and Mr. Goldman has signed on behalf of HALT. The Commission signed the CR. 192 Hayden Rowe Ms. Peters stated that she would like some changes made to the letter. She would like the work “accident” removed as she feels it was not an accident. She would also like the deadline for Mr. Hughes to be off the property be moved up to September 30, 2015. She this a good combination of the two letters would work. The Commission agreed. Ms. Burke will make the updates and send it out for review. The Commission discussed how to proceed with maintenance of the property. The Commission would particularly like to see the front of the lot addressed. It was asked if the DPW would help with the maintenance. Ms. Burke said she would speak with John Westerling. Mr. Ferrari said that the Commission could mark up a plan to let him know what they had in mind. David Goldman, HALT President, indicated that the Boy Scouts may be willing to offer help as well. The Commission discussed the demolition of the sheds and the plaque. Ms. Peters has an estimate of $2,800 for the demolition. There was some confusion as to the money available from CPC. Ms. Burke will investigate further. The Commission would like to see the demo price come down a little and will hold off on the plaque until everything is completed. David Goldman Mr. Goldman presented an Invoice for the Cameron Woods endowment. 2 Nancy Peters, seconded by Ed Harrow, made a motion to authorize the Chairman to sign the RFP for the Cameron Woods endowment in the amount of $12,500 to HALT. Vote: 3-0-0, Unanimous Mr. Goldman also provided an update on Whisper Woods. New Business Mr. Ferrari said that he had received an inquiry about markings and a stone wall within the Town Forest off of Pond Street. He showed the Commission pictures. It is unclear as to the exact location but it may be private property and the flags may denote the property line. Ms. Burke said she would show it to Don MacAdam to see if he had any thoughts.
