MEMORANDUM
TO Hon Mayor and Board of Trustees

RE. Fire/Rescue Committee Report
The Fire/Rescue Committee at its February 19, 1992 meeting,
by open vote, with a quorum present, decided to present the
following recommendation to the Board of Trustees
1 That the Village give notice to the Metropolitan
Dade County Fire District that the Village intends
to withdraw from the District April 1, 1992,
effective October 1, 1992
2 That, if the Village Board of Trustees, in
consultation with the Village Manager determines
there is insufficient time to establish our own
Fire/Rescue department by October 1, 1992, the
Village negotiate a short-term contract for
fire -rescue services with Metro -Dade or the City of
Miami at a price significantly below $3,590,294
annually, during the transition period until a
Village Fire/Rescue Department could be
operational
This motion was offered by Committee member Hugh O'Reilley
seconded by Chairman Cromartie, and carried (7-1) with the
Committee voting as follows Richard Cromartie - Yes, Joseph
Curcio - Abs , Ronald Erbel - Yes, Joan Garisto - Yes,
Camille Guething - No, Richard Henderson - Yes, David R
Johnson - Yes, Ed Meyer - Yes, Alma Trappolini - Abs , Hugh
