RE. Fire/Rescue Committee Final Report
Our Committee was asked by the Board to make a recommendation
on Fire and Rescue Services
At several public meetings, we heard from Deputy Director Mel
F Montes, Metro -Dade Fire Department and Chief C A Gimenez,
Miami Fire Department We received an ipdated proposal from
the City of Miami to provide Fire & Rescue Services under a
five-year contract for $2,750,000 the first year and
$2,600,000 for each of the next four years In addition to
the contract, the Village would have to provide the land and
prepare it for a Fire House with other attendent costs We
discussed this proposal at length
Dr Richard Henderson and David Johnson, Chief of the Key
Biscayne Volunteer Fire Department each presented a report on
the operating costs of having our own Fire Department
We have given the Village Manager copies of all proposals
received and reports that were presented
We believe this completes the work of our committee
