Plainfield, IL — The Plainfield Police Department is proud to announce the recipients of the Officer
and Civilian of the Year Awards for 2023.
OFFICER OF THE YEAR 2023
Sergeant Luke Ostreko is the recipient of the Plainfield Police Department's 2023 Officer of the
Year. This award recognizes officers whose service to both the Department and the Village is
exceptional and professional. The men and women of the Police Department nominate officers they
consider worthy of the highest degree of recognition.
Sergeant Ostreko was hired as a Police Officer by the Village of Plainfield on January 1st, 2007. He
was assigned to his current role as the Administrative Sergeant in May of 2023.
Sergeant Ostreko has been with the Village of Plainfield for 17 years. During his time in Plainfield,
Sergeant Ostreko has served as a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Patrol Sergeant, and his
current position as the Administrative Sergeant. As an officer, he also served as the President of the
Metropolitan Alliance of Police union and had a tremendous working relationship with management
throughout those years.
During his career, Sergeant Ostreko has been recognized multiple times for the work he has done,
both internally and externally. His strongest traits professionally include his ability to communicate
well with others, professionalism, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
During 2023, the department underwent significant transformations, leading to individuals assuming
new roles and tasks. Sergeant Ostreko emerged as a key figure in navigating and embracing these
changes, willingly taking on additional responsibilities without complaint. Whether managing the
transition to DACRA, implementing the body worn cameras, or overseeing the accreditation process,
he demonstrated exceptional proficiency in handling each challenge seamlessly. His ability to
execute tasks with minimal guidance is remarkable, consistently delivering finished products that
surpass everyone's expectations.

CIVILIAN OF THE YEAR 2023
Custodian Noli Manejero is the 2023 recipient of the Plainfield Police Department's Civilian of the
Year. The men and women of the Plainfield Police Department nominate the civilian employees they
consider worthy of this recognition. This award recognizes the civilian employee whose service to
both the village and the police department is exceptional.
Noli's dedication as a custodian extends beyond routine cleanliness; it significantly enhances the
overall work environment. His meticulous attention to detail ensures not only a spotless space but
also one that fosters a positive and productive atmosphere for all.
Going beyond the scope of traditional custodial duties, Noli's exceptional work ethic is evident in
every task he undertakes. His friendly demeanor and willingness to assist others make him an
indispensable part of the team, always approachable and ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind
word.
Moreover, Noli brings an infectious positivity to the department with his warm and welcoming smile.
He takes pride in going above and beyond, not only in custodial work but also in assembling furniture,
undertaking general maintenance tasks, and showcasing his talents in maintaining floors. These
efforts collectively contribute to transforming the workplace into a space that exudes pride and
professionalism.
Congratulations, Noli, on earning the well -deserved title of Civilian of the Year. Your hard work,
positivity, and unwavering dedication do not go unnoticed, and the Plainfield Police Department is
