Roll Call The City of Tiffin City Council and Clear Creek Amana School Board met in a work session on Wednesday August 1, 2018. Mayor Steve Berner called the meeting to order at 6:34 PM Upon roll being called the following Council/Board members were present: Jim Bartels, Al Havens, Eric Schnedler, Mike Ryan, Peggy Upton, Bob Broghammer, Jennifer Mooney, Terry Davis, Matt McAveary, Kathy Swenka, Nikki Knapp. Absent: Steven Swenka. Other present: City Administrator Doug Boldt, City Clerk Ashley Platz, District Superintendent Tim Kuehl, Board Secretary Lori Robertson, City Engineer Ben Carhoff and others. B. Agenda Additions/Agenda Approval Motion to approve the agenda by Mike Ryan. Second by Peggy Upton. C. Welcome and Introductions All members introduced themselves and their positions. D. Discussion and Update on 2018 School Construction Projects a. New Elementary Building b. Expanded Parking Lot by High School and Middle School c. Site prep work by High School d. Tranportation Building District Superintendant Tim Kuehl gave update of the New Elementary Building, Expanded parking lot by the High School and Middle School, site prep work by the High School and the Transportation Building. Also discussed new ball fields as the next project. New turf at the High School Stadium has been installed. E. New Vocational Agriculture Program Kuehl gave the update and scope of the New Vocational Agriculture program they will be looking to add. City Council/School Board Work Session Agenda Page 1 of 2 F. Discussion and Update on 2018 City Construction Projects a. Roberts Ferry Road Reconstruction b. Original Town Urbanization c. Traffic Signal Project at Highway 6/Ireland Avenue d. Traffic Signal Project at Highway 6/Deer View Avenue e. Roundabout at Highway 6/Park Road City Administrator Doug Boldt gave update of Roberts Ferry Road widening and fielded questions regarding the scheduled opening. Also gave update on the Original Town Urbanization, Traffic Signal Project at HWY 6/Ireland Avenue, Traffic Signal Project at HWY 6/Park Road and Roundabout at HWY 6/park Road. Went in depth of current situation with the DOT and the HWY 6/Deerview Ave temporary traffic signals. G. Update of Park Place Development/Park Road/Forevergreen Road Project Doug Boldt gave Council and School Board an update on the Park Road/Forevergreen Road and Park Place Development and discussions with all four jurisdictions (Tiffin, North Liberty, Coralville and Johnson County). H. Overview of Both Entities Future Capital Improvements a. Land for New High School b. Recreation Center Tim Kuehl gave update on the land for the new High School. Doug Boldt gave update on Recreation Center and fielding interest from multiple groups. Discussion on City and School support with potential rental agreements, but both Council and Board advised that money would not be able to be set aside for construction. Consencious of board and council is to prefer a private entity own and operate but they would have City and School support. I. Scheduling of Next Meeting Next meeting date: Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 6:30 PM at Library Middle School J. Other Business Mike Ryan, Council Member – CIPCO’s power lines regarding Coralville’s Ordinance requiring powerlines buried, in turn CIPCO chose to run though Tiffin above ground. th Steve Berner, Mayor – Timber Ridge Trail – September 12 ribbon cutting time to be determined. The work day was rained out and has not been rescheduled. K. Adjournment Motion to adjourn by Ryan. Second by McAveary. All ayes, meeting adjourned at 7:40 pm.
