A RESOLUTION TO ALLOCATE FUNDS FOR THE MAYOR'S TRIP TO THE
MISSISSIPPI RIVER CITY AND TOWNS INITIATIVE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa must approve the allocation of funds
for travel costs, and;
WHEREAS, Mayor Michael Bawden is a member of the Executive Committee of the Mississippi
River Cities and Towns Initiative and will be representing the City of Riverdale and the State of
Iowa at the meeting held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana from September 13-16, 2021 with national
legislators and key administration officials on matters related to flood relief and recovery,
stormwater management and transportation infrastructure, and;
WHEREAS, among the issues to be discussed at this meeting a cooperative approach to
stormwater management of the drainage way off of Fieldcrest involving the City of Bettendorf and
other federal agencies that may be able to provide technical and/or financial assistance, and;
WHEREAS, Mayor Michael Bawden will also be among a delegation of mayors meeting with
Senator Jodi Ernst (tentatively) and leadership from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA
and EPA.
WHEREAS, the estimated costs for attending the conference include parking at the Quad City
Airport, meals while in transit, Uber/cab fare in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Hotel and Airfare. Actual
expenses (documented with receipts) will be billed to the City and costs will not exceed $1,400.00.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIVERDALE,
IOWA
The City Council of the City of Riverdale, Iowa hereby authorizes the reimbursement to Mayor
Michael Bawden for the expenses incurred while representing the City of Riverdale and State of
Iowa at the MRCTI trip
