Morris Flowers to Celebrate Grand Opening of Leesburg Location With Ribbon Cutting January 31, 2014 Leesburg, VA (January 27, 2014) - J. Morris Flowers, a unique and luxury florist specializing in events, weddings and signature arrangements for everyday occasions, owner Jennifer Morris is celebrating a grand opening of a floral design studio at 207 Church Street, SE, in historic Leesburg. The grand opening and ribbon cutting is Friday, January 31 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. After creating wedding and event flowers for 11 years out of her home (winning Home-Based Business of the Year in 2010 from the Loudoun Chamber), the opening of the new location will showcase unique designs for Valentines Day and more. The studio includes a space for designing and an interactive lounge style consultation area on the second floor. The studio is set in an 1870’s house which was formerly the parsonage for the baptist church next door. So far, customers love the historic charm of the house and are excited to have a flower expert and artist in downtown Leesburg. Studios like J. Morris Flowers offer thoughtfully designed one-of-a-kind arrangements unlike the factory- like arrangements of other companies. J. Morris Flowers caters to the floral sophisticate who has an affinity for high-end design and luxury blooms. Because of this, J. Morris Flowers is part of the B. Brooks Network of florists, which is a hand-selected group of high-end florists throughout the United States and around the world. Jennifer chose Leesburg for her studio because of the numerous wedding venues in the area, but also because Leesburg is home to so many flower lovers, gardeners, garden clubs and floral related events. “Although our high quality blooms come from the most exotic places like Holland, Hawaii, Thailand and Australia, we are also proud to use local farms right here in Loudoun County," Jennifer stated. Morris resides in Leesburg with her husband and three daughters. Jennifer draws inspiration for her floral and event design from many areas of her life, but attributes her time in France as the turning point for her. “I realized when I lived abroad that I shared the same obsession for flowers as the Europeans. Flowers are an essential part of their daily life - like food for the eyes. I was drawn to the beauty of the formal aristocratic gardens, the colorful climbing roses and the simple and modern nature of the tulip gardens. I am one of those people who is hard-wired to love flowers and everything that can be made with them,” she stated. After studying French and art history, Jennifer started her career as a marketing and event professional which brought to the D.C. area from J. Morris Page 2 Pittsburgh. She then attended the Floral Design Institute in Portland, Oregon, where she learned design techniques like advanced wedding design, Japanese Ikebana, American design and ultra-modern design. Over the past twelve years J. Morris has completed 750 weddings and events. The awards and recognition J. Morris Flowers has won go back to 2005, when her work was featured in Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine in the spring issue. More recently, J. Morris Flowers has won the Bride’s Choice Award every year from 2009 to 2012 from Martha Stewart’s Wedding Wire Network, The Best of The Knot in 2011, and she has won the 2014 Couple’s Choice Award from Wedding Wire Network and has been chosen as a 2014 Preferred Vendor for Washingtonian Bride and Groom. Morris and her crew recently attended Washingtonian’s Unveiled bridal show in D.C. showcasing unique and luxurious designs in the color “radiant orchid” the 2014 Pantone color of the year. “We strive everyday to learn the most we can about current trends in fashion, decor and design. It’s amazing how much Hollywood and home design influence weddings, events and everyday flowers. My staff and I are constantly pouring over new ideas, flowers varieties, and design concepts." “It’s my goal for J. Morris Flowers to be Leesburg’s unique and luxury florist, “ Morris shared. “A florist you can go to for exquisite blooms, custom design, and concierge type service. We’ve made it easy to order online, where you can feel at ease that your order is coming right to me and not being sent to a florist you’ve never met. You can always call us to send arrangements nationally or internationally with confidence. And when life’s beautiful moments need flowers you will know we’ve created your arrangement in a thoughtful and artistic way with you in mind.” Contact: Doug Parsons Business Development Manager dparsons@leesburgva.gov 703-771-6530 # # #
