MINUTES OF THE BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING
August 9, 2018
CALL TO ORDER
The Budget Committee Meeting of August 9, 2018 was convened at 5:30 P.M. by
Councilman Rick Prather, Finance Committee Chairman.
ROLL CALL
The f ollowing Council Members were present when the meeting convened:
Present: Fitzwater, Graham, Hensley, Mihalevich, Prather, Schreiber, and
Ward
Absent: Kemna, Hussey, and Wiseman
A quorum was present.
COMMITTEE DISCUSSION OF BUDGET
DEPARTMENT PRESENTATIONS:
Public Works Department – Director Matt Morasch presented the Public Works
Department budget and answered several questions. Director of Operations Britt Smith
and Director of Transit Mark Mehmert were also available and answered
Councilmembers’ questions. Mr. Smith provided a “Stormwater Crew Update” handout,
and presented the information to the Council.
Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department – Director Todd Spalding presented the
Parks budget. He answered several questions regarding tree service and City Hall
grounds keeping service provided by the department. Mr. Spalding then presented the
Debt Service portion of the department’s budget, which will be presented to the Parks
Commission at their next meeting. Councilmembers requested a report on the Parks
Commission’s recommendation regarding the Debt Service.
Councilman Prather announced the next Budget meeting scheduled for Monday, August
13th at 5:30 P.M. in Council Chambers.
ADJOURNMENT
A motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Graham, seconded by Councilwoman
Ward, and approved unanimously at 6:52 P.M.
