WHEREAS, Trustee Michael Yates served on the Board of Trustees of The
Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District from January 17, 2012 to March 15, 2021, having held the
position of both Vice-chair and Chair of the Board of Trustees; and
WHEREAS, Trustee Yates’ strong leadership, knowledge and expertise imparted
direction and stability to the District; and
WHEREAS, Trustee Yates’ contribution serving as both chair and member of the
Program Management Committee and as a member of the Finance, Stakeholders, and Pension Plan
Committees, assured a continued diligent focus on the District’s fiscal matters; and
WHEREAS, Trustee Yates’ contributions to the St. Louis Community reach far
beyond his service on the District's Board, including but not limited to, formerly serving as
president, treasurer and business representative of Operating Engineers Local 148. Additionally,
Trustee Yates served on the executive board of the North County Labor Club for nearly 20 years
and is currently the club’s treasurer. Mr. Yates was recognized with the 2019 Hershel Walker
Peace and Justice Award for his efforts in creating a more just and equitable society.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE METROPOLITAN ST. LOUIS SEWER DISTRICT; THAT, this Board on behalf of itself,
the District and the people it serves, herewith expresses its sincere appreciation and gratitude to
Trustee Yates for his service on the Board of Trustees and for his many contributions to the
St. Louis Community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT, a copy of this Resolution be presented to
Trustee Yates in recognition of his service and accomplishment.
The foregoing Resolution was adopted on March 11, 2021.
