Home My Public Portal AboutORD15824BILL NO. 2018-021 SPONSORED BY Councilwoman Ward ORDINANCE NO. /5E L AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, ESTABLISHING A LOCAL HISTORIC DISTRICT, TO BE NAMED THE SCHOOL STREET LOCAL HISTORIC DISTRICT, AND ADOPTION OF ASSOCIATED BUILDING DESIGN REQUIREMENTS. WHEREAS, Chapter 8 of the City Code of the City of Jefferson provides for the creation of local historic districts and associated design guidelines; and WHEREAS, a minimum of seventy-five percent (75%) of the owners of real property within the proposed School Street Historic District have petitioned for creation of the district, as provided for within the City Code; and WHEREAS, it appears that the procedures for review of a local historic district by the Historic Preservation Commission have been properly complied with; and WHEREAS, matters regulating the use of land, and regulation of building design thereon, necessitate review by the Planning and Zoning Commission and it appears that the procedures for review of the proposed historic district and design guidelines by the Planning and Zoning Commission have been properly complied with. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The land within the following boundaries is hereby designated as the "School Street Local Historic District", a Local Historic District authorized by Article IV of Chapter 8 of the City Code: See attached Exhibit A. Section 2. The Design Guidelines for the School Street Local Historic District, on file as Case No. P18014 in the Jefferson City Planning division, are hereby approved and adopted. Section 3. The Zoning Map of the Zoning Code of the City of Jefferson is hereby amended in order to signify the boundaries of the School Street Local Historic District by creation of an overlay zoning district, named "HD-1 Historic District", for the land located within the boundaries of Exhibit A. Section 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
