Application for listing on Bridge Inventory System
Dear Mr. Romanach:
The Village of Key Biscayne is requesting a bridge number for the recently constructed West Mashta
Drive Bridge so that it can be listed on the Bridge Inventory System. The bridge is located on West
Mashta Drive between Hurricane Harbor and Smuggler's Cove in Key Biscayne, Florida. A location
map is included on the attached plans. I have attached the following information for your use in
obtaining the bridge number:

a set of 11"x 17" plans for the project
a bridge information sheet identifying key characteristics of the bridge
a company business card from C3TS (the project engineer)

WEST MASHTA DRIVE BRIDGE
GENERAL INFORMATION
Bridge Superstructure Description:
The length of the W. Mashta Drive Bridge is 44'-4" and the it is 48'-0" wide. The
bridge superstructure consists of a roadway bed composed of select fill, an 8"
limerock base and traffic bearing brick pavers supported by Pre -cast Concrete
Conspan units. Each Conspan unit is 8'-0" wide and has a clear span of 42'-0".
There are concrete headwalls on each end of the bridge to support the
compacted fill material.
The bridge section consists of 2-11'-0" lanes, modified Type F curb and gutter (9"
high) and 2-10'-0" sidewalks. Aluminum railings were built at each headwall.
Bridge Substructure Description:
The abutments were made with a Class IV FDOT concrete mix and are 49'-0"
long and 3'-10" wide. There are 14 — 14" square prestressed concrete piles at
each abutment spaced 4'-0" on center.
