HomeMy Public PortalAbout064-2002 - Grant - IN Dept of Commerce Community Dev Block Grant Program ORDINANCE NO- 64 - 2002 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended, authorized the Indiana Department of Commerce to provide grants to local units of government to meet the housing and community development needs of low and moderate income persons; and grant funding available; and WHEREAS, the Indiana Department of Commerce Community Development Block Grant Program has funding available; and WHEREAS, the City of Richmond, Indiana desires to submit a grant application to assist with expenses to prepare a planning document for the Wernle Children’s Home; and WHEREAS, the City of Richmond, Indiana will conduct public hearings prior to the submission of an application to the Indiana Department of Commerce, said public hearings to assess the housing, public facilities and economic needs of its low and moderate income residents.. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The Mayor of the City of Richmond is authorized to prepare and submit a planning grant application for grant funding to address a planning project for Wernle Children’s Home, and to execute and administer a resultant grant including requisite general administration and project management, contracts and agreements pursuant to regulations of the Indiana Department of Commerce and the United State Department of Housing and Urban Development. 2. The City of Richmond, Indiana hereby commits to provide local funds in an amount up to Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00). 3. The City of Richmond, Indiana hereby commits to provide local funds in an amount up to Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00), which will be provided by Wernle Children’s Home as matching funds for said program, such commitment to be contingent upon receipt of the above CDBG Planning funding from the Indiana Department of Commerce. 4. The grant funds, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to assist with the expenses to prepare a planning document for the Wernle Children’s Home.
