BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING
TUESDAY,AUGUST 13,2013 AT 7:00PM

Present: Mary Chaffee, RN, PhD, Chairman;Joanne Hughes,Vice Chairman; Lemuel Skidmore, MS, MPH;Annie
Sherwood, RN; Pat Ottolini, RN, MPA, CHA; Nancy Ellis Ice, MPH, CHO, RS, Health Director and Tammi Mason, Senior
Department Assistant.
1. bass River Engineering-Title V Variance request for 105 Mates Way
Tom Mclellen was present.The leaching has failed. The lot is very small which restricts where the system can go. TM is requesting a variance to
allow the leaching area to be more than 3 feet below grade. He is proposing it to be 4'A feet down with H2O components and it will be vented.
There was discussion on the room count. It was determined that there were 7 rooms,which would make it a 4 bedroom home.
Motioh:AS-finding that the proposed SAS will not be more than 6 feet down,a vent will be used and components will be H20,approve the

variaice as requested. JH seconded.5 yes.
2. Bennett Environmental-variance request for John Wings Lane

Continued'until the September 3,2013 meeting.
3. Randall&Megan Bassett-failure to renew Operation&Maintenance Contract—56 McGuerty Road
A letter was submitted by the homeowner stating that they had hired Jason Ellis and will have a contract within 14 days.
Motign:JH-grant a 14 day extension. PO seconded. 5 yes.
4. Nelson&Meridith Wirtz-failure to renew Operation&Maintenance Contract- 160 Old Red Top Road
Homeowner sent over a copy of the new contract.
5. Discuss Potential regulatory changes to limit phosphorus from septic systems in sensitive freshwater areas&wastewater alternatives
Continue until another meeting.
6. Discuss Tanning Regulations
NI handed out information from the owner of Oceanside Hair&Body,the only establishment in the Town that has tanning beds.MC read the
Assistant Health Director's comments from her discussion with the owner to the Board. MC wants owner to inform board when she will be closing
the tanning part of the business. JH asked NI to check with surrounding towns to see what they charge for tanning permits.
7. Discuss Planning Board's application for Brewster Pizza,2655 Main Street
Noted.
8. Discuss Health Director's FY'14 objectives
There waS discussion on what the objectives should be. No final decision was made. This will come back to the Board.
Chairman signed the bills to be paid.
Informational items were noted.
