CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA
MINUTES OF JUNE 30, 1960
1. An adjourned meeting of the City Council of the City of
Temple City was held in the City Hall, 9664.E. Las Tunas Drive,
and was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Merritt at 7:30 P.M.
2. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mayor Pro Tem Merritt.
3. Roll Call: Present: Councilmen, Buchan, Dickason, Merritt
and Tyrell. Absent: Councilman - Fitzjohn.
Also Present: Shatford & Woollett.
4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Resolution No. 60 -51 Tyrell moved that
Resolution No. 60-51 allowing claims and demands in the .a-
mount of $10,327.91. Nos. 103 through 128 and the Mayor,
City Clerk and City Treasurer be instructed to pay these items,
Buchan seconded, roll call vote as follows: AYES: Councilmen -
Buchan, Dickason, Tyrell and Merritt. NOES: None. ABSENT:
Fitzjohn.
5. A general discussion of the Proposed Budget of 1960 -61 cover-
ing each page making few changes, as on page 11 Woollett ex-
plained figures included an assistant as of Jan. 1, 1961,
who would also be part time in planning assistance, also a
part time clerk - typist as of Jan. 1, 1961. It was considered
that the City might have a man from Regional Planning Commis-
sion at the County Bldg. thus having plot plan and permit
work all at one spot.
Tyrell moved that we have some kind of podium for people ad-
dressing the Council leaving it up to the City Manager, Bu-
chan seconded and carried.
Re. Budget Page 16, City Treasurer Briesmeyer suggested $900
for utilities be raised to $1200. as he felt it inadequate.
Page 18 the insurance & surety bond figure was raised from
$2000 to $2500. Page 19 Contractual Services-Police.Protec-
tion about Jan. 1 will be.a 10% raise, thus figure raised
from $85,000 to $92,000. One thing not mentioned was what
the City's participation is going to be regarding the pool at
the High School. Has been part County and Unified School Dis-
trict. Further information required before any decision can
be made. Monthly reports are also to be made by the C.P.A.
Tyrell moved to appoint a Deputy Treasurer, and authorize the
signature at a. monthly rate of $15.00. Buchan seconded,
carried by roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen- Buchan, Dickason,
Merritt, Tyrell. NOES: None. ABSENT: Fitzjohn.
Five Minute Recess declared by Mayor Pro Tem Merritt.
Woollett announced the presentation of the Sheriff's Car to
Temple City would be made on July 5 by Sheriff Pitchess.
RESOLUTION NO. 60 -52: Tyrell moved to adopt Resolution 60 -52
the City Budget for 1960 -61 as amended, Buchan seconded, and
carried by following roll call vote: AYES: Councilmen - Buchan,
Dickason, Tyrell & Merritt. NOES: None. ABSENT: Fitzjohn.
Woollett presented estimates on drapes for front and back
windows. Tyrell moved to get drapes for estimated $426. in-
stalled. Dickason seconded, roll call as follows: AYES:
Councilmen: Buchan, Dickason, Tyrell, Merritt. NOES: None.
ABSENT:. Fitzjohn.
Tyrell moved the city hire Mrs. LaVina Nixon at a salary of
La $3-50. effective July 18, 1960, as a stenographic secretary.

Mr. Godfrey Lumsden, Manager of the Western Bank, was appoint-
ed Deputy City Treasurer.
