CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA
MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING
OF AUGUST 7, 1960.
The special meeting called by Mayor Fitzjohn for Sunday
morning at 9 A. M. was called to order by the Mayor who led the Pledge
of Allegiance to the Flag.
ROLL CALL: PRESENT: Councilmen- Buchan, Dickason, Merritt,
Fitzjohn
ABSENT: .Councilmen - Tyrell
ALSO PRESENT: Woollett & Shatford
The Council had a long and detailed discussion regarding the
parking lot situation as it now stands, and studied various ways of
handling the problem. The Wells lot being considered by the Council
as additional parking . area was also discussed for a considerable time
in regard to leasing, purchasing or taking an option on it.
The Council also discussed phases of the Master Plan and
preliminary maps showing property lay- outs, and a survey showing who
people are, what they do, buying power, etc. and also what can be done
to attract businesses to town. The survey could also be used by the
Council as well as for the Master Plan.
Woollett stated the Planning Commission is now in the process
of interviewing various companies concerning a Master Plan.
The Council also discussed the proposed contract with the
Chamber of Commerce relative to expenditures and the control the City
might have. It was agreed that the Council should work with the Cham-
ber and consideration be given to them. They felt the brochure men -
tioned, the booth at the Pomona Fair, Camellia. Festival, all of these
worthy, of City support.
This meeting was called for the purpose of discussion and
study of the above questions and no action was taken on any of them.
Buchan moved to adjourn at 10 noon, Dickason - seconded and
carried.
