Rain Barrel Workshops Offered in Leesburg
Leesburg residents can receive $20 discount on rain barrel purchase
Leesburg, VA (April 2, 2014) – The Loudoun Soil and
Water Conservation District, in partnership with the
Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission (EAC),
will offer four rain barrel workshops in Leesburg
during April and May 2014. While the workshops are
open to all, Leesburg residents may receive a discount
on rain barrel purchases, through a Town of Leesburg
program sponsored by the EAC.
The rain barrel workshops will be held at Tuscarora
Creek Park (425 Solitude Court SE). The workshop
dates and times are:
• Tuesday April 29, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 30, at 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, May 14, at 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
• Thursday, May 15, at 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
It usually takes less than an hour to make a rain barrel and you need only attend one workshop.
The listed start times of the workshops provides flexibility should you need to arrive later than
6:00 pm.
Interested parties can either make a rain barrel to take home or purchase a pre-made
barrel. The barrels are available in black or terra cotta red. The rain barrel kits to make a barrel
at a workshop are $60 each; the pre-made barrels are $80 each (all prices include tax). As a
bonus, Leesburg residents may receive a $20 discount on the purchase of a rain barrel as an
incentive to promote water conservation. There are a limited number of discounts that will be
given on a first-come first-serve basis (limit two per household).

Participants are reminded to dress appropriately if they will be constructing their own
barrels. A registration form can be downloaded from the Loudoun Soil and Water
Conservation District website at www.loudounsoilandwater.org. For more information and to
