A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE. CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AND LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY GROUP FOR
CONSULTING SERVICES
WHEREAS, staff has identified a funding gap of $13.4 million between the
funds received to replace Ham Park and the actual costs to complete the park
~ replacement project; and
WHEREAS, Legislative Advocacy Group can provide lobbying services at
State, and local levels; and
WHEREAS, the City will benefit from direct representation of its interests
at State and local levels through lobbying services provided by Advocacy Group,
particularly in securing Ham Park Replacement funding; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to obtain professional consulting and lobbying
services for State matters in California and desires a Consultant to provide
services; and
NOW, THEREFORE the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby
find, determine, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1: That the City Council authorizes the Mayor to execute a
Consulting Services Agreement with Legislative Advocacy Group, Inc. for the firm
to provide standard lobbying activities such as engagement and assistance in
meetings with government legislators, including members of the Assembly
Senate of the State of California, in order to represent the City of Lynwood's
interest with respect to legislative proposals that may impact the city, particularly
the Ham Park Replacement Project.
Section 2: That the City Council approves a Consulting Services
Agreement in a form approved by the City Attorney for an amount not exceed a
monthly retainer of THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000) per month for
services based on the scope of services.
Section 3: The City Council authorizes the appropriation of $36,000 from
the unappropriated general fund to pay for such services.
Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 19t"day of August 2008.
