HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 1450ORDINANCE NO. 1450 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING SECTION 7-10 OF THE LYNWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS The City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. SECTION 7-10 of the Lynwood City Code hereby is amended to read as follows: Section 7- 10. Increase or decrease of local speed limits on certain designated streets. It is hereby determined upon the basis of a traffic and engineering survey that the prima facie speed permitted by State law in certain business and residential districts in the City shall be changed to a speed limit declared to be reasonable and safe and which will be con~'ucive to the orderly movement of vehicular traffic under the conditions found to exist upon such streets, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof: 1. Abbott Road, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. to Atlantic Ave. 35 miles per hour 2. Alameda Street, 103rd Street to South City limit 40 miles per hour 3. Atlantic Ave., Noah City Limit to Imperial Hwy. 35 miles per hour 4. Atlantic Ave., Imperial Hwy. to Fernwood Ave. 35 miles per hour 5. Atlantic Ave., Fernwood Ave. to South City Limit 40 miles per hour 6. Bulbs Road, Imperial Hwy. to Orchard Ave. 35 miles per hour 7. California Ave., Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. to Imperial Hwy. 35 miles per hour 8. California Ave., Imperial Hwy. to Fernwood Ave. 25 miles per hour 9. Wright Road, Duncan Ave. to Fernwood Ave. 30 miles per hour SECTION 2. Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision. sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or place, is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its application to other persons or places. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivision, sentences, clauses, phrases or portions, or the application thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance by the City Council of the City of Lynwood and cause the same to be published in the manner required by law, and said ordinance shall become effective thirty days after its final passage.
