ORDINANCE NO. 1457
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD REPEALING
IN THEIR ENTIRETY ORDINANCE NOS. 1454 AND
1455 RELATING TO THE PROPOSED CONSOLIDATION
OF THE CITY'S GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WITH
THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION, AND DECLARING
THE URGENCY THEREOF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD ORDAINS AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 1454 is hereby repealed in
its entirety. The title of that ordinance is as follows:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD MOVING
THE DATE OF ITS GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
FROM THE FIRST TUESDAY AFTER THE FIRST MONDAY
IN NOVEMBER OF ODD-NUMBERED YEARS TO THE
FIRST TUESDAY AFTER THE FIRST MONDAY IN
NOVEMBER OF EACH EVEN-NUMBERED YEAR, PURSUANT
TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 36503.5."
Section 2. Ordinance No. 1455 is hereby repealed in
its entirety. The title of that ordinance is as follows:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 1454 TO ELIMINATE ALL
REFERENCES TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 36503.5
THAT WAS SUPERSEDED BY ELECTIONS CODE
SECTIONS 1301 AND 10403.5, AND A REFERENCE TO
SECTION 1302 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE THAT
SHOULD APPEAR AS SECTION 1301."
Section 3. The City Council finds and determines

Angeles County Board of_ Supervi;~ors, as required by Section
36503.3 of the California Government Code, and that such approval
will not be forthcoming. Consequently, in order to dispel any
confusion on the part of the public concerning the date of the
City's next general municipal election, which date will be
Tuesday, November 4, 1997, and in order to facilitate the orderly
and efficient conduct of that general municipal election by the
City's elections official, it is essential that this ordinance
become effective immediately. For these reasons, this ordinance
is an urgency ordinance that is necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health and safety within the
meaning of Section 30937(c) of the Government Code, and it will
take effect immediately.
Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to certify to
the passage and adoption of this Ordinance and to cause it to be
published or posted as required by law.
