Proposed Designs for Mervin Jackson Park on Display at
Leesburg Town Hall
Public input session on proposed park in downtown Leesburg will be held on
Monday, April 21, 2014, at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center
Leesburg, VA (April 16, 2014) – A series
of possible designs for the proposed
Mervin Jackson Park in downtown
Leesburg are currently on display in the
lobby of the Leesburg Town Hall (25 West
Market Street). The four design options
are the result of feedback received from
residents at the March 13th public input
meeting on desired amenities and
intensity of development for the new
park. The designs will be on display at the
Town Hall until 5:00pm on Friday, April
18, 2014. The designs will then be on display at Ida Lee Park Recreation Center until Friday,
April 25, 2014.
On Monday, April 21, 2014, Town staff will hold a second public input session to receive
feedback on the proposed designs. The meeting will take place in conjunction with the Parks &
Recreation Commission’s monthly meeting at 6:00pm in the lower level meeting room at Ida
Lee Park Recreation Center (60 Ida Lee Drive NW).
In February, the Leesburg Town Council approved the development of the two vacant Town-
owned parcels on the south side of the Town Hall Parking Garage, on Loudoun Street SW, as a
public park. The new park will be named after the late Vice Mayor of Leesburg, Mervin Jackson.
Following the meeting with the Parks & Recreation Commission on April 21, staff will present
refined design options to the Leesburg Commission on Public Art, the Board of Architectural
Review, the Leesburg Economic Development Commission and the Tree Commission at those

commissions’ regular monthly meetings in May 2014. In June 2014, staff will make a final design
