Meeting Date: February 4, 2020
The Committee convened on Tuesday February 4, 202 at 5:30 pm in the Town Council
Office. Present were Kenneth Woodland, chair; Lisa Feltner, vice chair; and Vincent
Piccirilli, secretary.
The purpose of the meeting was to conduct interviews for the Historic District
Commission.
Robert Bloomberg is seeking appointment to the Historic District Commission. Trained
as a historian, he has authored many articles, including a recent column for the
Historical Society of Watertown's newsletter on the Shick family and their dairy farm on
Grove Street. He believes it is important to not only preserve historic buildings, but also
the historic landscape surrounding them.
4 Action Item: Councilor Piccirilli made a motion, seconded by Councilor Feltner, to
recommend that the Town Council confirm Robert Bloomberg for appointment to
the Historic District Commission for a term to expire November 15, 2020.
Voted 3-0.
Harvey Steiner is an artist who lives in the District and has served on the Commission
since its creation in 2003, and is seeking reappointment. He serves as Chair, and
discussed some past successes of the Commission. He has worked with the Planning
Department and the DPW to design the signs identifying the District, and hopes they
will be installed as part of the Mt. Auburn Street project.
