HomeMy Public PortalAbout08/16/2011 Special CCM197 MEDINA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF AUGUST 16, 2011 The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on August 16, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. in the Medina City Hall. I. Call to Order Members present: Martinson, Weir, Crosby, Siitari, Pederson Members absent: None Also present: Interim City Administrator Doug Reeder, City Attorney Ron Batty, City Planner Dusty Finke, Police Chief Ed Belland, Public Works Superintendent Steve Scherer and Finance Director Jeanne Day II. 2012 Budget Work Session Reeder provided a presentation of slides including emphasis on big picture policy discussion, estimated 2012 budget impact on residential homes, general fund spending from 2009 to 2012, example of general government expenditures over the past five years, city tax levy and rate history over the past 10 years, tax levy, per capita tax spending and rate comparisons to neighboring communities, and the 2012 proposed tax levy. Discussion was held on the open house preparation and on the preliminary tax levy to present at the September 6th meeting. III. Discuss Public Works Facility Discussion was held on various types of possible financing vehicles for the public works facility. IV. Adjournment The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 p.m. ®7� 1 T. M.
