Sunny Days and Large Crowds Graced Leesburg’s 24th Annual
Flower & Garden Festival
Leesburg, VA (April 30, 2014) – Gardeners and shoppers
got an early start on Saturday, April 26, as crowds filled
the streets of downtown Leesburg for the 24th annual
Flower and Garden Festival. After a stormy set-up on
Friday evening, blue skies greeted staff and festival
goers all weekend. Steady crowds gathered in the
historic district to see the gorgeous landscape displays,
browse over 150 vendors, listen to live music on the
Loudoun County Courthouse grounds and play in the
children’s entertainment area. Overall, the festival drew
an estimated 32,000 visitors throughout the weekend.
A new highlight to this year’s festival was a presentation
and book signing by popular authors and lifestyle gurus
Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, known better as the
“Fabulous Beekman Boys.” Their presentation on “Living an Heirloom Life” drew 175 fans to
learn more about the “Boys” transformation and development of their brand “Beekman 1802.”
The Beekman Boys engaged the audience with anecdotes and stories about the importance of
embracing heritage and producing value for long-term satisfaction.
The most anticipate tradition of this event is the judged landscape competition. This year the
event featured four area landscapers who showcased their best work. Most competitors
worked through the night and into the early morning hours to produce their masterpieces. The
2014 winners are:
Best Overall Presentation: River’s Edge Landscape, Bluemont, VA
Outstanding Technical Craftsmanship: West Winds Nursery, Sudley Springs, VA
People’s Choice: River’s Edge Landscape, Bluemont, VA

The Flower and Garden Festival is Leesburg’s unofficial start to the spring season, so be sure to
