HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 1372ORDINANCE N0. 1372 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COULdCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING SECTION 7.10 OF THE LYNWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO PRIMA FACIE SPEED LIMITS The City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. SECTION 7.10 of the Lynwood City Code hgreb;. is amended to read as follows: Section 7.10. Increase or decrease of local speed limits on certain designated streets. It is hereby determined upon the basis of a traffic and engineering survey that the prima facie speed permitted by State law in certain business and residential districts in the City shall be changed to a speed limit declared to be reasonable and safe and which will be conducive to the orderly movement of vehicular traffic under the conditions found to exist upon such streets, and it is hereby declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as herein set forth on those streets herein designated when signs are erected giving notice thereof: 1. Abbott Road, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. to Atlantic Ave 2. Alameda Street, 103rd to south City limit 3. If any section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or place, is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its application to other persons or places. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion tP.ereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivision, sentences, clauses, phrases or portions, or the application thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance by the City Council of the City of Lynwood and cause the same to be published in the manner required by law, and said ordinance shall become effective thirty days after its final passage.
