HomeMy Public PortalAboutGAC Minutes 2004 06/09GOLF COURSE ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES June 9th, 2004 Attending: Hank McCauley Roger Snodgrass Bob Giles Dari McKim Staff members: Dan Pillard, Director of Golf Operations Allan Morrison, Golf Professional Staff Reports: Dan Pillard reported greens were verticutted, tee heights were lowered, and some green areas were patched. Allan Morrison reported that the clubhouse paint bid does not include paint and supplies. Allan mentioned he is hosting another fund raiser in August. He mentioned that he now has a full staff in the restaurant and pro shop. Bob Giles mentioned there were many positive comments early this spring. Dari McKim mentioned there were many positive comments on the inside of the clubhouse and on the golf course. New Business: • Dan Pillard Reported the project list was on schedule and additional wetland areas were being mowed. CLUBHOUSE Call To Order and Roll Call Call To Order Ro11 Call Public Requests or Comments Staff Reports Dan Pillard, Golf Course Superintendent Allan Morrison, Golf Professional Project Update New Business Old Business Call For Additional Items Adjournment Progress Report — Golf Management Team Meeting 6/8/04 Clubhouse storage shed complete $3,500 Roof repairs ordered to be paid by the insurance company $750 Landscaping under construction, installation of rock financing TBD Three additional employees are in the hiring process One employee was determined unqualified to continue Total 3 full-time, 7 seasonals, 2 part-time seasonal GC Mechanic interviews in progress total of 14 applicants Dumpster relocation 70% complete $650 Many greens have been plugged and verticutted Purchase of a fairway and rough mower are being considered for $3,500 and $9,000 Staff is currently evaluating the cost of irrigation improvements to the cedar course Estimates will go the golf foundation for approval of funding Asphalt preparation behind CH to be completed by Public Works Waiting on bid for asphalt work behind CH Asphalt work scheduled to be completed after the two -man best -ball Cedar wetland areas are filling in fertilizer has been applied mowing to be completed tomorrow All fairways, tees and greens have been fertilized Aeration of #3 fairway postponed until after the two -man best -ball due to playability Weed control initiated for knotweed and broadleaf weeds Columbian ground squirrel control — contacted fish/game dept they suggest trapping and removal, city is looking into renting traps as well as poison control
