HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 1377ORDINANCE NO. 1377 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF LYN'/~IOOD AMENDING SECTION 25-9.7(C) OF THE LYNWOOD MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO HOTEL/MOTEL DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD, CALIFORNIA, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Section 25-9.1(c) of the Lynwood Municipal Codes hereby amended to read as follows: C. Motels and Hotels. A motel shall be defined an establishment providing transient accommodations containing six or more rooms with at least 25% of a1.1 rooms having direct access to the outside without the necessity of passing t]irough the main lobby of the building. A hotel shall be defined as a facility offering transient lodging accommodations to the general public and providing additional services such as restaurants, meeting rooms, recreational facilities. For both motels and hotels, a conditional use permit shall be obtained and the following standards met: 1. No cooking facilities shall be permitted in any rooms, other than the manager's, 2. The following development standards must be met: a. Parking (Hotel) - One (1) off-street parking space per room. In addition, there must be restaurant or banquet facilities parking provided at one (1) off-street space per 100 square feet of gross floor area, and employee parking at one (1) off-street space per six (6) rooms. b. Parking (Motel) - One (1) off-street parking space per room and one (1) off-street parking space per six (6) rooms for employee parking, and pursuant to Section 25-14 of the Lynwood Code. c. Landscaped Setback - Fifteen (15) feet front yard, five (5) feet side yards, fifteen (15) feet rear yard. d. Minimum Lot Depth - Two Hundred (200) feet. e. Minimum Lot Size - Two (2) acres. f. Hotel must have a bona-fide restaurant with a minimum of five thousand (5000) square feet gross floor area or a banquet facility of five thousand (5000) square feet gross floor area. g. Minimum number of units - One Hundred (100) h. Minimum motel unit size - 400 square feet including restroom. i. Minimum hotel unit size - 400 square feet including restroom. j. No motel use shall be located within 100 feet of a residential use. 3. Such uses shall only be permitted within one thousand five hundred (1500) feet of a freeway as defined in subsection 25- 33.1 of the Lynwood City Code, or within one thousand five hundred (1500) feet of the proposed I-105, Century Freeway. 4. No room shall be rented more than once within a twenty-four (24) hour period. 5. Any other conditions deemed necessary by the Planning Commission to protect the public health, safety and general welfare of the surrounding community. SECTION 2: SEVERABILITY. If. any section, subsection subdivision, clause, phrase, or portion of this ordinance, or the application thereof, to-any person or place, is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision it shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its application to other persons or places. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each section, subsection, subdivision, sentences, clause, phrase, or portion thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, sentence, clauses, phrases or portions, or the application thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or unconstitutional. SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause same to be published once in the Lynwood press within fifteen days after its passage and said ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after its passage.
