Minutes for the October 17, 2014 meeting were corrected, accepted and approved.
Captains Golf Course: Judy informed us that the Captains Golf Course's lights are on a timer for
the parking lot,pro shop and cart barn. The people who control events at the Pavillion have the
capability to put the lights on whenever necessary.
Town Election: Denise, Karen Thurber, Loretta Ruchinskas and Suzanne Dean manned the door at
the Brewster Baptist Church to help people with canes, walkers and wheelchairs to get into the
building. Citizens were very appreciative of the jesture.
Town Meeting: Thank you to the Brewster Police Department for helping us achieve more
handicap parking spaces for the Town Meeting. Althought rides to the meeting were posted on the
Town's website and in the Cape Codder, Denise mentioned that no Brewster citizens used their van
for a ride to the meeting.
Drummer Boy Park: Our committee received an email about the stone dust paths at Drummer
Boy Park. They are in need of repair and the question is what type of material is suitable. Judy
mentioned that she had given his name, which is Peter Zoni who works at Cape Cod Ready Mix,and
he recommended a pervious concrete. Judy will forward this email information to the committee.
Claire will talk with Charlie Sumner regarding which projects our committee would like to see on
the spring warrant.
Brewster Ladies Library: The library has asked for our help with regards to the handicap
entrance on the lower level of the library. There is a threshold that is not smooth for a walker or
wheelchair. Denise mentioned that Cynthia Mathiason informed her that Tom Thatcher looked at it
and it needs a very narrow ramp, inside and outside. Claire passed around pictures of rubber and
metal ramps that might be suitable. Denise will give Tom this information.
It was also mentioned that the Library's elevator does not have any signage to what is on each floor.
Denise will speak with Kathy about this.
Beach Access Mats: On November 10th, Elaine Davis from the Barnstable County department asked
if our town would be interested in doing a cape wide bid on accessibility mats for the beach. Our
committee all agreed that it can't hurt as we might be in need of these types of beach mats in the
future. Claire will email Charlie back with our response.

Other Business:
Visitor's Center Handicapped Accessible information: Claire mentioned that we should work on
a pamphlet for the Visitor's Center for summer tourist, indicating the handicap accessible beaches,
ponds, etc.
Portable Potties: There are still portable potties at the golf course and tennis courts. Many are
wondering why the ones at the beaches departed after Labor Day. Our committee feels that they
should remain in place until Columbus Day weekend. Denise will talk to Jillian about this issue.
Eddy Playground: Open House is Monday, November 24th at 9:30am
Breakwater Beach Parking Lot: Denise mentioned that Chris Miller send her an email with the
proposed plans for the reconstruction of Breakwater Beach parking lot. Denise will forward the
email to the committee.
Elijah Cobb House: Currently, the Elijah Cobb House will not be handicap accessible if the Historic
Society purchases the home. Our understanding is that the modifications will keep the building at
its current standards.
Meeting was adjourned at 4:30pm.
Our next meeting will be Friday,December 19,2014 at 3:30pm. If John Dickson can not attend,
Denise will notify the committee members and we will meet at 2pm.
