Board of Assessors Meeting
January 16, 2014
Executive Session
Howard Hayes called the Executive Session of the Board of Assessors to order at 5:50 p.m.
in the Assessors Office.
Present: Assessors Hayes, Eyestone and Salomone, and Deputy Assessor David Tately
The Executive Session was called to review and discuss Real Estate Abatement Applications
and one personal exemption.
The Board voted unanimously to deny the Clause 41C Elderly Exemption for Harold
Johnson, of 33 Sheep Pond Circle, because the applicant is not a trustee of the trust that owns
the property.
Tim and Sarah Macort, of 692 Stony Brook Road, appeared before the Board in support of
their abatement application. They told the Board about how much they believe it will cost to
complete necessary renovations of the house, and why they feel the house is overassessed
even though it is assessed for less than what they paid for it in 2012.
After discussion on each application, the Board voted unanimously to approve each of the
Real Estate Abatement Applications, in the amounts indicated, as shown on the list attached
hereto as Addendum 1. Mr. Hayes did not participate in the discussion and did not vote on
the application for 226 Gull's Way because of a business relationship.
Mr. Hayes moved to adjourn Executive Session. Ms. Salomone seconded. Roll call vote
was unanimous to adjourn. Hayes-yes, Salomone-yes, Eyestone-yes.
The Executive Session was adjourned at 6:41.
Respectfully Submitted,
