ORDINANCE NO. 493
AN ORDINANCE ATTESTING TO AN INCREASE IN TAX
REVENUES FOR THE 2011 ANNUAL BUDGET FOR THE
CITY OF BEL AIRE, KANSAS.
WHEREAS, K.S.A. 79-2925b provides that an ordinance be adopted if property
taxes levied to finance the 2011 Annual Budget of the City of Bel Aire, Kansas exceed the
amount levied to finance the 2010 Annual Budget of the City of Bel Aire, Kansas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bel Aire, Kansas must continue to provide services to
protect the health, safety, and welfare of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the cost of providing essential services to the citizens of the City of Bel
Aire, Kansas continues to increase.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY
OF BEL AIRE, KANSAS:
Section 1. State Law
In accordance with state law, the City of Bel Aire, Kansas has conducted a public
hearing and has published the proposed budget necessary to fund City services from
January 1, 2011 until December 31, 2011.
Section 2. Property Tax Revenues
After careful public deliberations, the Governing Body of the City of Bel Aire, Kansas
has determined that in order to maintain the public services which are essential for the
citizens of the City of Bel Aire, Kansas, it will be necessary to budget property tax revenues
in an amount which exceeds the levy for the 2010 budget.
Section 3. Effective Date
This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the
official city newspaper.
