ORDINANCE NO. _1.311 `
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY CGUNCI-'L OF TKE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING ORDINANCES NO.
1206, 1243 and 1269 ESTABLZSHING SALARIES
FOR THE CITY COUNCILMEMBERS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinances No. 1206, 1243 and 1269
and Government Code Section 36516, the salary for
Councilmeabers in the City of Lynwood was in 1985 fixed and
determined at the sum of $500.00 per month; ana

a population for the City of Lynwood of greater than 50,000 but
less than 75,000 as validated by the California Department of
Finance; and
WHEREAS, the California Government Code Section
36516(a}(3) provides that members of a city council of a city
with a population over 50,000 (but less than 75,000) may
receive a salary of $500 per month; and
WHEREAS, the California Government Code Section 36516(c)
further provides that compensation to councilmembers may be
increased beyond the amounts provided in Section 36516(a)(3),
above, by ordinance or amendment to an ordinance; however, the
increase may not exceed an amount equal to five percent (5 t)
for each calendar year from the last salary adjustment; and
h'HEREAS, the City Council desires to increase the salary
applicable to its members as permitted by California
Government Code Section 36516.

NOWMf~.~, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood

Government Code Section 36516 the salary of members of City
Council of the City of Lynwood hereby is fixed and determined
to be the sum of $500 plus an amount equal to 5 percent for
each calendar year from the operative date of the last salary
adjustment.
~~i4~_~. In addition to the salary established by
Section 1 hereof, City Council members may be reimbursed for
actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of
their official duties.
,section 3. This ordinance shall supersede Ordinance No.
1269.

subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this
Ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or place,
is for any reason held to be invalid of unconstitutional by the
decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision

Ordinance or its application to other persons or places. The
City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this
Ordinance, and each section, subsection, subdivision, sentence,
clause, phrase or portion thereof, irrespective of the fact
that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivisions,
sentences, clauses, or phrases, or portions, or the application
thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or
unconstitutional.

,~gction 5. The City Clerk shall certily to the passage of
.this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in
the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed,
published, and circulated in the City of Lynwood.
FIRST READ, at a regular meeting of the City Council of
said City held on the atb day of _nnt~hA,- , 1986, and
finally ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council
held on the 18th day of October , 1988.
