THE CITY OF BEL AIRE, KANSAS
ORDINANCE NO. 511
AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING AMENDMENT OF CHAPTER 3, OF THE
BEL AIRE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
THE RATE OF LEVY OF TRANSIENT GUEST TAX.
WHEREAS, Charter Ordinance 15 of the City of Bel Aire allows and permits the Governing
Body of the City of Bel Aire, Kansas to levy a transient guest tax at a rate not to exceed nine
percent (9%)upon the gross receipts derived from or paid by transient guests for sleeping
accommodations, exclusive of charges for incidental services or facilities, in any hotel, motel or
tourist court; and
WHEREAS, The percentage of such tax shall be determined by the Governing Body and
specified in an ordinary ordinance authorizing the same.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BEL AIRE, KANSAS:
Section 1. Adding Article 6 Section 6.1.1 to Chapter 3 of the Bel Aire City Code.
6.1.1. TRANSIENT GUEST TAX. The transient guest tax shall be levied at a rate of
6%upon the gross receipts derived from or paid by transient guests for sleeping
accommodations, exclusive of charges for incidental services or facilities, in any
hotel, motel or tourist court, and shall be collected as provided in K.S.A. 12-1698.
Section 2. Publication.
This ordinance shall be published in the Ark Valley News, an official city newspaper,
and shall take effect and be in force from and after publication.
Passed by the Governing Body of the City of Bel Aire, Kansas, this 17th day of July,
2012.
