A RESOLUTION STATING THE CITY'S OPPOSITION TO THE LOCATION OF
A RESIDENTIAL YOUTH CORRECTIONS FACILITY AT 180 SOUTH S00 EAST.
WHEREAS, The State of Utah Department of Youth Corrections has
proposed to use the building located at 180 South 300 East for a
Residential Youth Corrections Facility; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Youth Corrections has been meeting
with representatives from the City, members of the Community, and
other interested parties regarding the appropriate use of said
building and potential alternative locations for the Youth
Corrections Facility;, and
WHEREAS, there has been significant public opposition to the
use and location proposed by the Department of Youth Corrections
and concerns about the impact of such a use on the surrounding
neighborhood,
NOW, THEREFORE, WE, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF MOAB DO
HEREBY RESOLVE TO OPPOSE THE LOCATION OF A RESIDENTIAL YOUTH
CORRECTIONS FACILITY AT 180 SOUTH 300 EAST.
This resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage.
