Leesburg Seeks 4th of July Parade Entries
Join the community in the Town’s 24th annual Independence Day celebration.
Leesburg, VA (June 6, 2014) – The Town of
Leesburg’s 24th annual Independence Day
Celebration will be held on Friday, July 4,
2014. The day’s festivities will kick off with
the annual Independence Day Parade. The
parade will step off at 10:00 a.m. from the
front field of Ida Lee Park, travel south on
King Street through the historic downtown,
and conclude at Fairfax Street.
Civic groups, youth organizations,
community groups, families and others are
encouraged to participate in the parade. No fee is required to participate! Parade entries can
include floats, motorized or non-motorized vehicles, and walking groups – the more creative,
the better! Pre-registration is encouraged, but not mandatory. The application for the parade is
available online at www.idalee.org, or at the front desk of Ida Lee Park Recreation Center.
Once again, the Annual Patriot’s Cup, sponsored by Leesburg Today, will be awarded to the
parade entry that best represents the spirit of American Independence. The Patriot’s Cup is
awarded before the start of the parade and the winner will display the trophy on their parade
unit during the parade. Post-parade, the winner’s name will be engraved on the Patriot’s Cup
which is on display year-round at the Leesburg Town Hall.
In preparation for the parade, downtown streets will close at 9:30am. All parade participants
must be at the front field of Ida Lee Park by this time. For more information or to obtain an
application, please contact Ida Lee Park Recreation Center at 703-777-1368 or online at
