AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOU AMENDING ORDINANCE N0.
1206 ESTABLISHING SALARIES .FOR+. _THE.'CITY
COUNCILMEN
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 36516, the
salary for Council members in the City of Lynwood has been fixed
and determined to the sum of $250.00 per month; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Government Code
Section 36516.2, said salary may, by ordinance, be increased by
an amount equal to five percent (5%) thereof for eac~. calendar year
from the op^-.rative date of the last adjustment of the salary pro-
vided for Council members; and
--- - WHEREAS, since the operative date of the last adjustment
of the salary applicable to members of the City Council, increases
in the cost of living have substantially reduced the value of the
aforesai3 $250.00 per month salary; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to adjust the salary
applicable to its members.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
HEREBY DOES ORDAIN as follows:
Section 1. In accordance with the provisions of Govern-
ment Code Section 36516.2, the salary of members of City Council of
the City of Lynwood hereby is fixed and determined to be the sum of
$347.G0, which amount is less than an amount equal to a five percent
(7%) increase for each calendar year from the operative date of .the
last adjustment of such salary.
Section 2. In addition to the salary established by
Section 1 hereof, City Council members may be reimbursed for actual
and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their official
duties.
Section 3. Severability. If any section, subsection, sub-
division, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this Ordinance, or
the application thereof to any person or place, is for any reason
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court
of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity
of the remaining portions of this Ordinance or its application to
other persons or places. The City Council hereby declares that it
would have adopted this Ordinance, and each section, subsection, sub-
divie~on, sentence, clause, phrase or portion therecf, irrespective
of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, subdivisions,
sentences, clauses, or phrases, or portions, or the application there-
of to ar.y person or place, be declared invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this Ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the
Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published,
and circulated in the City of Lynwood.
FIRST READ, at a regular meeting of the City Council of said
Citv held on the 18th day of December' 1934, and finally ordered
published at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 2nd day
of January .1985.
