Leesburg Begins Construction of Potomac Crossing Park with
Ground Breaking Ceremony on June 26, 2014
Leesburg, VA (June 18, 2014) – At 6:00pm, on
Thursday, June 26, 2014, Town of Leesburg officials
will hold a ground breaking ceremony to mark the
start of construction for Potomac Crossing Park. The
new park is located at the end of Shanks Evans Road
in the Potomac Crossing neighborhood in northeast
Leesburg.
In February 2013, the Leesburg Parks and Recreation
Commission unanimously endorsed a proposed
design for the new park, which will include a
playground, picnic shelter, open space and paved
and primitive trails that connect to the trail network
in the adjacent Ball’s Bluff Battlefield Regional Park.
The Leesburg Town Council approved the park
design and moved construction of the park from FY
2019 to FY 2015 in the Town’s Capital Improvement
Program in July 2013.
Total cost for the construction of Potomac Crossing
Park wil be $597,159 and will be funded from developer contributions. The construction is
expected to be completed in late Fall 2014. For more information about the park construction
