HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrd. 1219 ORDINANCE NO. 1219 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING CHAPTER 25 OF THE LYNWOOD ^4UNICIPAL CODE, "ZONING," PERTAINING TO FENCES AND WALLS IN RESIDENTIAL ZONES. The City Council of the City of Lynwood DOES HEREBY ORDAIN as follows: Section 1. Section 25-4.7 a,b, and c is hereby deleted in their entirety. Section 2. Sections 25-4.7 a,b, and c is hereby amended to read as follows: "25-4.7 Walls and Fences, Residential Zones. a. In any required front yard, a wall or fence shall not exceed four (4) feet in height, except as provided in sub- section 25-4.8 d. 13, provided the upper one (1) foot is open to permit the transmission of light, air and vision through the fence surface. The fence or wall shall be constructed of decorative material compatible with the residential structure and the general scheme of the neighborhood, specifically excluding chain link, chicken wire and fiberglass. b. A wall or fence generally parallel and located within ten (10) feet of driveway shall not exceed four (4) feet in height within the required front yard, provided the upper one (1) foot is open to permit the transmission of light, air and vision through the fence surface. c. A wall or fence not more than six (6) feet in height, as measured from the highest adjacent grade, may be maintained along the interior side or rear lot lines." Section 3. Section 25-16.7 shall be deleted in its entirety. , Section 4. Severability. If any section, subsection, subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance or the application thereof to any person or place, is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of ary court or competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance or its application to other persons or places. The City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this ordinance, and each section thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase, or portion, or the application thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or unconstitutional. Section 5. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, published, and circulated in the City of Lynwood. First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of said City held on the 17th day of January 1984, and finally ordered published at a regular meeting o£ said Council held on the 7th day of February , 1984.
