ORDINANCE NO. 1220
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AMENDING SECTION 19-73(a)
(DESIGNA'PION OF TRUCK TRAFFIC ROUTES) AND
(b) (COMPLIANCE WITH DESIGNATED ROUTES;
EXCEPTIONS)
The City Council of the City of Lynwood DOES HEREBY
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 19-73, Subsection (a) of the Code
of the City of Lynwood hereby is amended to read as follows:
LDesignation of Truck Traffic Routes.]
Whenever any provision of this Code or other ordinance
or resolution of the City designates and describes any
street or portion thereof as a street, the use of which is
permitted by anv vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight
limit of 4.25_ tons, the City Traffic Engineer is hereby
authorized to designate such street by appropriate signs as
"truck traffic routes" for the movement of vehicles
exceeding a maximum gross weight limit of 4.25 tons.
SECTION 2. Section 19-73, Subsection (b) of the Code
of the City of Lynwood is hereby amended to read as follows:
LCompliance with Designated Routes; Exceptions.]
When any truck traffic route is established pursuant
to subsection (a) and designated by appropriate signs, the
operator o£ any vehicle exceeding a maximum gross weight
limit of 4.25_ tons shall drive, stand or park on such
routes and none other; however, nothing in its section
shall prohibit the operator of any vehicle exceeding a
maximum gross weight of .4.25 tons coming from a "truck
traffic route" from having ingress ar~d egress by direct
route to and from restricted streets when necessary for the
purpose of making pickups or deliveries of goods, wares,
and merchandise from or to any building or structure
located on such restricted streets or for the purpose of
delivering materials to be used in actual and bona fide
repair, alteration, remodeling, or construction of any
building or structure upon such restricted streets for
which a building permit has previously been obtained
therefor. The provisions of this section shall not apply
to passenger buses under the jurisdiction of the public
utilities commission, or to any vehicle owned by a utility
service while necessarily in use in the construction,
installation or repair of any utility.
SECTION 3. Severability. If any section, subsection,
subdivision, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this
Ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or place,
is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the
decision of any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision
shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this
Ordinance or its application to other persons or places. The
City Council hereby declares that it would have adopted this
Ordinance, and each section, subsection, subdivision, sentence,
clause, phrase or portion thereof, irrespective of the fact
that any one or more sections subsections, subdivisions,
sentences, clauses, phrases, or portions, or the application
thereof to any person or place, be declared invalid or
unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk is hereby ordered and
directed to certify to the passage of this ordinance and to
cause the same to be published once in the Lynwood Press, a
newspaper of general circulation, printed, published, and
circulated in the City of Lynwood.
First read at a regular meeting of the City Council of
said City held on the 7th day of February 1984, and
finally ordered published at a regular meeting of said Council
held on the 21St day of February 1984.
